Cardi B has been added to the lineup for the 2025 Global Citizen Festival.
On Monday, September 22, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Big Bardi will perform in The Weeknd's place. The Grammy Award-winning singer took to his Instagram stories and revealed he won't be able to perform at the annual festival due to "personal reasons." This will be Cardi B's first time performing at the festival.
“Central Park, I’m coming for you!!! I can’t wait to be home in New York, and to bring my new songs and all the DRAMA to the Global Citizen Festival,” Cardi said.
“This one’s not like other music festivals — this one is about coming together to help children around the world, and I’m so proud to support such an important cause.," she added. "New York City — see you Saturday. Let’s get it!!!”
Hosted by Hugh Jackman, the 2025 Global Citizen Festival will support the leading advocacy organization's mission to end extreme poverty around the world. In addition to Cardi and Shakira, the lineup will also feature performances by Tyla, Mariah The Scientist, Ayra Starr, Camilo and Elyanna.
“We are incredibly grateful to Cardi B, who has joined the Global Citizen Festival line-up," Global Citizen CEO and co-founder Hugh Evans said. "She's an outstanding performer, who will light up Central Park in spectacular fashion. We wish The Weeknd support and want to thank him and his fans for all taking action with us to help end extreme poverty.”
The festival will stream live via iHeartRadio on Saturday Sept. 27 from the Great Lawn at New York’s Central Park. Tickets are available now on the Global Citizen app and website.
