Multiple music and entertainment venues in Oklahoma City and Tulsa have announced various COVID-19 restrictions to keep its guests safe.
Unlike several neighboring states, Oklahoma law does not restrict businesses from asking customers about their vaccination status. Oklahoma only bans public schools from asking for "vaccination passports."
Starting on September 8, the Tower Theatre and Ponyboy in Oklahoma City will require its guests to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of an event.
The venues clarified that "exemptions may be granted to those with qualifying health conditions on a case-by-case basis." Customers unable to meet the requirements will be given refunds.
Tower Theatre will also require kids under 12 to wear a mask at all times while masks will only be encouraged for anyone over 12, KOSU reported.
In Tulsa, Mercury Lounge and Barkingham Palace already require vaccination proof or a negative test. Mercury will offer rapid tests for $15 that will be done on site, according to News on 6.
A similar policy at The Whittier Bar will go into effect on Saturday, August 21.
If you are attending the upcoming Rocklahoma or Born & Raised Music Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, a COVID-19 vaccine or test is not required to attend. However, both festivals released statements saying that it strongly encouraged ticket holders to get vaccinated.
