Madonna's "tribute" to Aretha Franklin was so self-indulgent, disrespectful, and downright HORRIBLE that MTV couldn't even be bothered to post it on their YouTube channel (where they posted EVERYTHING ELSE about the VMAs last night.)
There's no copy of it anywhere, but someone posted a transcript of it on YouTube just to give you an idea.
After a night full of hardcore criticism on Twitter (including where she was ragged on not even smiling or saying thank you to Camila Cabello who basically dedicated her "Video of the Year" win to Madonna), she posted THIS to Insta this morning:
1) That was NOT 2 minutes. 2) An anecdote connecting your career to Aretha would be simply "I wouldn't be here if Aretha Franklin hadn't come out with 'Natural Woman,' which I sang to a couple of French producers that got me my start in music, so let's make some noise for the Queen of Soul, who I owe my whole career to." 3) You're "so proud" of Camila? You looked like you couldn't have cared less while she was pouring her heart out to you, you self-righteous sucknugget.
Sorry, I'm off my soapbox now. That just REALLY rubbed me the wrong way.
