Unfortunately, the world has become a place where you can't even go enjoy a night of music without having to fear for your life. We first saw it with the Manchester shooting during the Ariana Grande concert, and it happened once again last night in Las Vegas during the Route 91 Country Festival last night in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, over 50 are confirmed killed, and over 200 confirmed injured.
The shooter was a 64-year-old Vegas local who was killed, and police have believed to found his accomplice and the vehicles they used. Video shown below may be sensitive to some, but shows no violence -- just the fear of the situation as you hear shots in the background and people panicking and taking cover.
Insanely scary moment that should never have to happen, EVER. Also, scary to think that one week ago, our iHeart family was in that exact spot, as that was the exact location of our Daytime Village at our iHeartRadio Music Festival. It's being considered the deadliest shooting in US history.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victims, and man...a huge hug goes out to all of you. Because if that's what's needed to prevent stuff like this, I'll leave radio and just give hugs full time. This needs to stop.
(Also below, is an update from Vegas police.)
