Sunday became a pretty controversial day in the NFL, as players and coaches responded to tweets made by President Trump basically calling for the firing of anyone who refuses to do anything but stand during the singing of the National Anthem. For months now, some players have decided to take a knee during the Anthem to protest racial inequality -- that was the case on Sunday, but kicked up a notch as mostly all teams linked arms on the sidelines, even with some of those that took knees, during the Anthem in mostly all games. Some players didn't even leave the locker room until after the Anthem was completed.
Last night, both the Cowboys and the Cardinals decided to take a knee and link arms before the Anthem played, then stand in solidarity as Jordin Sparks sang it. But Jordin had a silent protest of her own going, as she wrote "Prov. 31: 8-9" on her hand, referencing the Bible verse "Proverbs 31: 8-9," which reads:
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
