This is SO cool. Back in 2015, Disney rocked a "Star Wars" event called "Force Friday," which was an unleashing of a new line of "Star Wars" action figures to celebrate the then-new installment, "The Force Awakens."
Next weekend, they're bringing it back to celebrate the actual new installment, "The Last Jedi," with a whole new fresh line of action figures. Starting at 12:01a on Friday, Sept 1 and lasting 3 days (so, basically all of Labor Day Weekend), retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Apple stores will open their doors, but also integrate an augmented reality into the shopping experience.
So, basically, you know how Pokemon Go works with the actual world around you? The same thing will happen with your shopping trip -- you'll scan a display with your phone at the store and then be able to see the "Star Wars" world around you by looking through your phone's camera. You'll also be able to take photos and videos with the augmented reality being captured.
There's also going to be select websites online that will allow you to purchase the new line of toys, and also give you some inkling of the augmented reality, as well.
