Demi Lovato ‘Fully Supports’ Ex Wilmer Valderrama’s Whirlwind Engagement

Back in January, Wilmer Valderamma announced his engagement to Amanda Pacheco after less than a year of dating. The news shocked fans of both Valderamma and Demi Lovato, who dated for six years before calling it quits in 2016. Fans of the former couple held a candle for their romance since their split and hoped to see the two reunite at some point. Though Lovato and Valderamma have both moved on from their past relationship, they've remained close friends over the past 4 years. Lovato was reportedly even happy for her ex-boyfriend when she heard he popped the question.

“She is still in touch with Wilmer, but obviously not in a romantic relationship way,” a source told Us Weekly. “There is still love there for sure, but Demi fully supports him and his engagement to Amanda. She just wants what’s best for him and for the both of them to be happy.”

Lovato's full support for Valderamma's relationship isn't anything new, either. In May 2019, another source told Us Weekly: “Demi knows about [Amanda] and is being equally as supportive as Wilmer has been of her recent relationships. [They] have continued their friendship as well as Wilmer’s relationship with Demi’s family.”

In her Simply Complicated documentary, which premiered on YouTube in October 2017, Lovato opened up their split for the first time. She revealed they both still loved each other quite a bit, however, she needed to do a lot of growing on her own. “There are issues that I haven’t conquered yet that I know I won’t conquer if I’m relying on somebody else to take care of the loneliness," she revealed. "That was one of the reasons why we broke up because I’ve never been alone. It had nothing to do with falling out of love, we decided together we just probably are better as friends.“

Both Lovato and Valderamma kept their promise to each other to remain friends. Following Lovato's near fatal overdose in July 2018, multiple outlets reported Valderamma "put his life on hold" to be there for his ex when she needed him most. “He saw her through so many ups and downs and was her rock through some of her darkest moments. To see her back in such a sad and vulnerable place is heartbreaking for him,” a friend of the former couple told People at the time. Valderamma reportedly flew to the east coast multiple times while Lovato was in a treatment center there.

Perhaps this means Lovato will be invited to Valderamma and Pacheco's wedding? We'll just have to wait and see.
