Black Eyed Peas & J Balvin Link Up On Party Jam 'RITMO (Bad Boys For Life)'

Black Eyed Peas and J Balvin have joined forces for a new party anthem.

On Friday (October 11), the genre-bending pop stars marked their long-awaited comeback to music on a collaborative effort with the Latin superstar called “RITMO (Bad Boys For Life).” The record — which translates into “rhythm” in English — signals the arrival of Bad Boys for Life Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which releases next year alongside the trilogy flick of the same name, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

True to the track's name, BEP and JB bring all the rhythm and the funk on the Song of 2019 contender, which fuses Spanish lyrics and reggaeton elements with layers of hip-hop and pop. The accompanying music video, helmed by Colin Tilley, also features cut scenes from the highly-anticipated film Bad Boys for Life, opening in theaters in January 2020.

“I wanted to reimagine ‘The Rhythm of the Night’ by Corona and give it a minimal, futurist, afro-fused reggaeton vibe. The final song and video feel like the classic next level futurism that the Black Eyed Peas are all about,” BEP co-founder will.i.am said in a press statement. For Balvin, on the other hand, the opportunity to team up with the pop pioneers was a dream fulfilled. “I’ve been a Black Eyed Peas fan for as long as I can remember. They are legends!!” he added. “It’s an honor to join them and become part of the sound of Bad Boys for Life."
